A second tour of a former Penn Central facility may also be added to the itinerary. Please note that long pants and sturdy hard-soled shoes will be required for both tours. No open-toed shoes, sneakers, or shorts will be permitted!

Saturday morning we will visit the Midwest Railway Preservation Society’s facility in downtown Cleveland, located in a former Baltimore & Ohio roundhouse. The roundhouse currently houses two steam locomotives: former Grand Trunk Western 2-8-2 4070 and former Reading T1 4-8-4 2100, both of which are undergoing restoration by two different organizations.
Saturday afternoon we will have an optional ride on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad behind Nickel Plate Road 2-8-4 #765. Tickets for the steam train can be purchased through the CVSR’s web site at https://www.cvsr.com or by calling 1-800-468-4070. (Please note that the tickets for the steam train usually go on sale in August or early September.) Ticket prices are expected to be $40.
For those who do not wish to ride, you will have the afternoon free for railfanning or other activities.
Saturday evening will be the annual convention banquet. Our convention speaker will be Greg Comstock, Northern Region General Manager for Norfolk Southern. Greg will speak about his career with the Penn Central.
